Question: I'm heading to Select-A-Seat. Is the East side better or West at Memorial Stadium?
It depends on your perspective. I'm a West side man myself, but we've moved back and forth over the years. The key is you need to be above row 14 and between the 10s. If you do that, you're going to have a good view of the game. As for East vs West, here is the rundown:
WEST
Unless it's an a.m. game, you don't have to stare at the sun in the late afternoon.
You get to hear the band.
You get to hear and see the students.
You get to hear Mangino coach if you're low enough.
If it's hot, you get shade in the late afternoon.
The downside of that is that if it's cold, you get shade in the late afternoon.
You're closer to Lot 50.
Good seats are sparse.
EAST
You can get better seats on this side.
It's closer to Lot 124.
You get a real world experience of college student life.
Bring some shades, the sun stares you down on late afternoons. We need more taller suites.
You get to yell at Mack Brown.
You can't hear the band.
