Field Trip for Texas Recruits
Welcome To Lawrence
It's a big weekend for the Hawks as five recruits from Texas will be visiting Lawrence. The most high profile is four-star wide receiver William Cole from Cedar Hill, Texas who will visit with WR teammate Dezmon Briscoe. With two young quarterbacks with Big 12 experience in Kerry Meier and Todd Reesing, it's a great time for young wide receivers to come to Kansas. A lot of fans are thinking one of the two QBs will have a breakout year in 2007 and that could lead to a big year for some young wideout. Think Charles Gordon and his 57 catches during Bill Whittemore's senior season. Here is the full list for the weekend visits with profile links:

Hope that is a positive sign that he might end up being a Hawk.
I would really love to see us get Cole though. Four-star wideouts are so rare for KU. I thought we'd generate some interest from wide receivers after Whittemore made Charles Gordon and Mark Simmons famous back in 2003. Seems like it's been tough landing the highly-rated WRs, though. Hopefully, Ingram and Rambo will pan out. Fields, Henry and Herford certainly have the tools to be big-time. Dexton in particular played well in the short passing game toward the end of the year.
Overall, I'm a little surprised we didn't get a verbal over the weekend. Anxious to hear some good news on the recruiting front.
