I'll Tell You What It's About
BCS
Wow. Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl on January 3. We missed out on our shot at a Big 12 Championship, but we still get a chance to redeem the 1968 team. Awesome.
Hey, I'm all sorry and stuff for Mizzou, but I don't need to listen to the nationals trash my team. We carried that undefeated target in a BCS conference twelve weeks. Everyone knew we had injuries and no one made excuses. We played just three games in Lawrence in October and November. We ended with a virtual road game at Arrowhead and Mizzou nailed us. Good for them. We lost and we assumed our best bowl opportunity was the Cotton Bowl. It started to shake out a little different during the week, so Mizzou knew the score going into last night's game. Again, I'd still trade the Orange Bowl for a chance to have played in San Antonio last night.
Bottom line. We had a great season. We're going to take our BCS bid and enjoy it. This is a chance to make a statement for next year.

2) There's really only one game that matters after early December. The BCS letters are nice, but really if you're not in the NC you're NIT*.
3) I can see how the BCS didn't want to punish a one-loss team. It would have looked odd to have KU outside of the top five bowls. No reason to punish KU because Mizzou is in awe of a team that couldn't handle Tech or Colorado. MU was supposed to win so maybe next time don't smack talk OU for half a season.
4) I appreciate the comments, but can we keep hoops out of it? There are plenty of KU hoops blogs out there.
*See, now you got me talkin' in basketball terms.
I wouldn't call it whining. I'd call it pointing to the scoreboard, which is valid. Head to head is what counts in a rivalry. Mizzou has two in a row on us and I'm not enjoying that at all. I'd trade places in a heartbeat.
