Orange Bowl Live Thread: From Kansas City?

Okay, I know, you're wondering how a hardcore blogger could actually be in Kansas City rather than Miami. Here's the short story -- unavoidable work conflict. So, we move on. To get in, click comments and type away. Rock Chalk!

Halftime update: 17-7 Kansas. Aqib started it off with a pick six (above).

Not sure of what to make of the red jerseys.

Unlike the Arrowhead "home game" this time the tunnel is surrounded by KU fans

Note: the grass paint job is much better than the low-rent Arrowhead effort

Without looking it up -- that may be the closest we've come to scoring on the first drive this year

I need another look at the high steppin' -- I don't know that I agree with that one.

Aqib is looked a little tired on the field goal attempt runback -- of course, he's been in on on 75% of the plays

How do you turn 2nd and five into a three and out? No time for messing around in this one
January 3, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDJ
So the quarter ends and I think we've bloodied their nose a bit. The offense needs to start cranking which is obviously easier said than done. I thought B-Mac should have stayed in more on that last series

Chris Harris another pick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like good coverage downfield -- TR may need to take off a little sooner to loosen up the secondary
January 3, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDJ
One of the Tech linebackers is closely watching our coaches when they signal in the audible -- don't know if he is just confused or really trying to pick up a pattern
January 3, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDJ
Tough to see that that field goal went through the uprights

10-0 KU

January 3, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDJ
facemask, that's unfortunate
January 3, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDJ
Our crowd is too slow to make noise on "D," you make the noise when they are in the huddle

17-7 KU
January 3, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDJ
All Ore on that drive -- defense looked tired. That facemask was the breaking point
January 3, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDJ
Call a timeout now Tech
January 3, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDJ
You better say sir

Halftime thoughts -- the last drive shouldn't have happened, but the defense has been on the field a lot. That drive should set up some play action for Tech in the second half. Still, the Hawks ought to be able to handle that. Keep the tight coverage and start wrapping up.

Offensively, it looks like we might be ready to break loose. Sharp looks effective, but he keeps making the wrong cut. If the running game can get going, Tech may be in trouble.

January 3, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterROWYHO
Are you related to the Cheeseman that played in the first half for Tech?
January 3, 2008 | Registered CommenterDJ Goodwin
ZZ Top -- they look like they are about 70, but at least they are live
January 3, 2008 | Registered CommenterDJ Goodwin
Regarding AT, yeah another half like that and he might slip into the top 20
January 3, 2008 | Registered CommenterDJ Goodwin
Hey DJ:
As always, love your commentary. feels like I'm in the tent. I think the Arrowhead game really helped us. No "deer in the headlights" in the 1Q on the big stage
January 3, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMatt
Technical difficulties for Fox?
January 3, 2008 | Registered CommenterDJ Goodwin
Yeah, a little more confident on the big stage this time
January 3, 2008 | Registered CommenterDJ Goodwin
Good to have you on board, I'd like to see Todd Reesing really open it up like we know that he can
January 3, 2008 | Registered CommenterDJ Goodwin
