Mangino's Greatest Hits: KU / MU 2005

Link to the KUsports.com Highlights

This one gets a little lost among some of the other, but the 13-3 win over Missouri in 2005 was key for the season. The week before Jason Swanson got some time in a blowout loss at Colorado. You started to see that KU might finally have a leader at QB and sure enough the Jayhawks were a whole different team against the Tigers. The game ended a four-game losing streak and also introduced us to Aqib Talib as he intercepted a Brad Smith pitch for a huge turnover. His take:

"He kind of pitched it and dude didn't catch it," said Talib

I have nothing to add, except that I'm loving this series. Keep 'em coming.

I would echo HipHops comments, excellent series...it's also a good reminder that despite MU's recent success we still own Gary Pinkel, 4 out of the last 6.

You know, I have thought about this series for quite a while, but I always had thought of it in terms of ranking them by greatness. So, then I'd get hung up on that. As I was heading out of town, I needed some type of series and it occurred to me to just do them all chronologically. The really cool thing would be to have a photo and the box score, but I've never really confirmed with KU athletics to see if they are cool with posting the box from their website.
